This project expands our growing presence in Egypt, that beloved part of the Holy Land where the Lord and Mary and Joseph were sheltered as Herod tried to kill them. In cooperation with our partners, the French charity SOS Chrétiens, we will be providing a woodworking machine (at a cost of $15,000) for the workshop in the famous ‘Salam Center’ on the outskirts of Cairo. The Salam Center is the creation of the late Sister Emmanuelle, for the slum-dwellers who have worked on the garbage dumps of the city for generations. Based in Ezbet el Nakhi, the center has a maternity and geriatric unit, a vocational workshop, a woodworking shop, and are constructing a hospital. We will buy, with your help, a woodworking machine, which will help approximately 100 people learn a trade.
