Jesus remarks, in St. John’s Gospel, that many of the leaders of the people preferred the “glory of men to the glory of God.” That seems very appropriate for all seasons, perhaps especially today. Human respect - and the fear of standing out from the crowd, is almost essential, apparently, for success today - but is that really true?
