First Shrine in Europe for Persecuted Christians

If you are in the London area, please join us on September 8, the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, for the installation of the Shrine of Mary, Mother of Persecuted Christians (see invitation). The Shrine features an icon of Our Lady with the words “Mother of the Persecuted” written in Aramaic, the language of Jesus, still spoken in parts of Syria and Iraq.  The icon was painted by a Lebanese Melkite nun, Sister Souraya, who Nasarean has helped rebuild their icon studio to support the convent, especially the elderly and sick nuns. This will be the first Shrine in Europe specifically dedicated to prayer for persecuted Christians throughout the world. The first Shrine was established at St. Michael’s Church in New York City, in 2017.
