One of the phrases we often use to describe someone with admirable qualities is that they are the “salt of the earth.” Straight from the mouth of Jesus, that command is for Christians to “flavour” society and to preserve all that is good from decay. As always with the Gospel, we must dig deep to understand what the Lord is calling us to do when He tells us to be “the salt of the earth.”
