Gospel Nugget 48: Eyes Fixed on Immortality

This Sunday is Laetare Sunday, or “Rejoice Sunday,” a day we anticipate something of the joy of Easter. The Rose vestments which should be worn (if your parish doesn’t have them, perhaps you could offer to buy some!) are meant to symbolise that joy. The reality is that Christian joy, not an emotion, is Resurrection joy, never truly absent if we are believers. It’s only real if it’s a fruit of the Spirit and never something opposed to the will of Christ - it has its eyes fixed on eternity.
