The Church gives us many special days of prayer, for all kinds of intentions. The Pope has given us a very special day to pray for our Grandparents and the elderly. This is a beautiful example of the counter-culture of Christianity:as the elderly are ignored and mistreated we offer the examples of holy old men and women. Simeon and Anna beholding the Christ Child in the Temple show us old age can bring hope, fidelity and joy.
