November is the traditional month for Christians to pray for the dead - Scripture tells us that it is “a holy and wholesome thing” to do. The great Russian Solzhenitsyn wrote that prayer for the dead is “an act bequeathed to us in deep wisdom, by men of holiness.” It is hopeful and hope-filled - an act of charity. November’s bleakness holds Resurrection’s promise.
