In the Gospel of St. Luke we hear the beautiful story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Downcast, their hearts begin to burn as Jesus explains the Scriptures to them. Do we experience those “burning hearts” when we listen to the Word of God? When we attend worship, do we expect the Scriptures to speak to us - and do preachers pray for that gift?
